The purpose of this Mentoring Service is to support the young person and help improve their life choices.
What is it about?
The main purpose of mentoring is to offer weekly support to young people who have been affected by their own use of alcohol, drugs or cigarettes or if they are affected by a friend or family-members use
We will try to help young people make positive life choices
The aim is to help reduce the young persons substance use
Increase young peoples self-esteem and confidence
Young people becoming involved in their community
Who is mentoring for?
Young people aged between 12 and 18 years
Young people living in the Moray area
Young people who feel they need help and support which will be provided by a Volunteer Mentor on a,
One-to-one 2 hour weekly sessions
Group sessions
Referral Criteria
The young person is affected by substance use
The young person is aged 12 - 18 years of age
The young person live in the Moray area
The young person is in need of support which can be provided by weekly contact of around 2 hours with a volunteer mentor
The young person enters into the relationship voluntarily
Referral and Assessment process
Referrals can come from anyone, including a young person, if a need is identified and matches the criteria (contact Anne Grant, MYA)
Referrals through LIAP (Local Integrated Assessment Planning)
