Substance Misuse in MorayEffective action to address drug and alcohol misuse remains one of the greatest challanges facing Scotland today. Although Moray is a safe place to live and is seen as offering a high quality of life, like most regions in Scotland there is growing concern surrounding drug and alcohol misuse. This strategy reflects the growing commitment of all the partners involved in Morays Alcohol and Drug Partnership to tackle these issues in targeted, imaginative and co-ordinated ways through services, education, campaigning and supporting enforcement.
The Strategy should be viewed as a programme for change that fully embraces the Scottish Executives national strategies in relation to drug and alcohol issues but in ways which address local priorities and concerns. Through these shared priorities, the strategy is designed to bring practicality and reality to our collective vision to ensure that people affected by substance misuse get the help they need, when they need it.
We have reviewed and strengthened our services locally to address these challanges and the recent inspection of drug and alcohol services in Moray by the Social Work Inspection Agency makes positive comments in relation to our evolving strategic and operational arrangements. Our commitment to the people of Moray is now to deliver on the details of the strategy and we will ensure, through on-going review, that individually and collectively our actions remain sensitive to local need.
