A client who had a history of substance misuse and mental health problems was referred to Moray New Futures by Turning Point Scotland. After discussion with his support worker he indicated he was keen to return to the job market in the retail field.
He has already done extensive work with Moray Drug and Alcohol Team and Turning Point at Studio 8 and Guildry House to address his substance misuse issues and felt ready for employment but on a voluntary basis to start with. This was mainly due to him have been out of work for the last 10 years and was therfore lacking in confidence and felt he lacked the appropriate skills.
A work placment was set up at a local supermarket by Moray New Futures, which he attended 2 days a week. With support from Moray New Futures, in partnership with Studio 8 and Guildry House he maintained his placement successfully for approximately 4 months.
He was then offered a part-time contract at the local supermarket and following advice and support from the local Jobcentreplus, the client deceided to accept the job. This case study reflects the added value of Partnership Working
