Moray Adult Literacies Partnership
Awareness Raising Training
Recent Scottish Government research suggests that the incidence of previously undetected vision problems is surprisingly high in adults with literacy difficulties. Such problems, which may go undetected in a normal eye examination, can limit the individuals reading efficiency, making literacy improvement more difficult than it might otherwise be.
Learning Connections has developed an awareness training session in such visual problems for those working in adult literacy. The training aims to give participants an awareness of the range and nature of undetected visual difficulties that may be experienced by many literacy learners. The session also addresses the detection of visual problems in a literacy setting and the appropriate responses where such conditions are suspected.
Learning Connections will provide this 3 hour training session for us, free of charge, on Wednesday 24th March, from 1pm - 4 pm in Moray College. I am attaching an invitation. Please distribute this to any relevant member of staff or volunteer in your organisation. The course is intended for front line staff who are working with learners.
