Moray Drug and Alcohol Action Team (MDAAT)
The MDAAT was established in 1996 following local government re-organisation and was in line with the recommendations of the Ministerial Task Force on Drug Misuse in Scotland.
What is the MDAAT?
Moray’s Drug and Alcohol Action Team is a partnership of all the organisations involved in reducing the harm caused by alcohol and drugs to both individuals and communities across Moray. It’s primary purpose is to deliver the Governments strategy in relation to drugs and alcohol by bringing together many different agencies and co-ordinating a partnership approach to tackling substance misuse. Our primary aim is to help our communities find local solutions to local problems.
There are twenty one members including local authority staff, local authority elected members, representatives from health, the police, the prison service, the local Drug, Alcohol and BBV Forum and the licensed trade association. The Director of Community Services, The Moray Council, chairs the team.
MDAAT Structure
The MDAAT Structure includes the Strategy Group, the Implementation Group and the Moray Drug, Alcohol and BBV Forum. The MDAAT also works closely with the Community Safety Partnership. Various other short-life working groups are established as and when required to address certain issues or deal with individual projects. Meetings of the MDAAT are held quarterly to address the issues surrounding substance misuse.
